Censored Post Cards:
Girl Communion dress cannabis field 1949
Sweet Girl in a white
Communion dress posing in cannabis field near Slavonska Pozega in Croatia, old
photo between the two wars Croatia was a big producer of rope, and cannabis
fields as the main basic material for the production of ropes, were everywhere.
- The father of the little
girl was probably a rope maker himself, and photographed his little daughter in
her great moment in his prize field. As
the cheaper plastic ropes came on the market, the rope manufactures closed one
after the other . In the 1960s there were only couple of rope makers left in
Croatia
. Ten years later in the 1970s cannabis was
better known as dope then as a basic material for rope making, and no father
would ever take a confirmation picture of his daughter in a cannabis field.
- On the back side of the
photo is the stamp from a photographer from Slavonska Pozega and a handwritten
dedication dated June 19. 1949. --
The photo is standard postcard size but has a plain back. Very good
condition. Please see the scan.
Standard postcard size [ 5 1/2 ins. x 3 1/2 ins. ].

KENTUCKY
TOBACCO OLD VINTAGE FIELD SCENE
GREAT SCENE TITLED
"KENTUCKY HEMP FIELD NEAR LEXINGTON KY"
- NEAT 1907 POST CARD ~
POSTALLY USED NEAT 1907 POST CARD ~ POSTALLY USED - This very unusual black and
white post card is in very nice plus condition with slight cornerwear with very
light writing on the front in pencil (almost cannot see it). This unusual post
card would make a nice addition to many types of collections!
KENTUCKY HEMP FIELD 1908 VIEW W/ FLAG CANCEL
Up for auction is this
postally used post card titled A KENTUCKY HEMP FIELD. It has a KY (can't make
out town) post mark date 1908 with a rare fancy flag cancel. Card has some edge
and corner wear and a slight stain in upper right, but is otherwise in very good
condition...
Hemp
Cart
Albay
Province
Phillipines Postcard
This is a remarkable early
1900s postcard showing a view of ox drawn hemp carts at Albay Providence in the
Phillipines. The postcard is a divided back and used in 1910. It has a piece of
the upper left corner missing. Its upper right corner is also creased and there
is a small tear at the upper left side. However, the card is still in overall
good condition. - stormywiz(2210)
This is an unused Post Card (space for one cent stamp). The
subject, in color, is men in a field. The title is "Breaking Hemp in
Kentucky
." I suppose this was a major
crop there at one time (and may still be, if you count marijuana?). The reverse
is printed "Wrenn & King,
Lexington
,
Kentucky
- C.T. Photochrom." About condition - I am not an expert in these, but I
will describe best I can. There is sign of a bend in the upper right. There is
some bumping of corners. The color seems to have held up well. The reverse has
some stain, and I believe a small remnant of scrapbook adhesive. As some of my
family came to
Texas
from
Kentucky
, I believe that we are the original owners. It's time for someone else to get a
chance.
WE are definitely looking for more post cards to add to the collection
to help preserve them for future generation to see, you can send the card itself
or just send a scan of both sides!
